Do I qualify for Services?
Skilled service need
You may qualify if your health care provider has recommended skilled care at home—such as nursing or physical, occupational, or speech therapy—on a short-term basis for recovery or to manage a health condition.
Homebound status
For most people using Medicare, you need to be considered “homebound,” which means it’s hard to leave home without help from someone else.
Physician referral
A referral or order from your health care provider is needed to start home health services. This confirms that receiving care at home is the right choice for you.
Appropriate payer source
Check your coverage. Medicare and Medicaid are the most common payers, but private insurance or self-pay options may also be accepted.
Geographic location
You need to live in an area served by BAYADA’s home health offices.
What is the process of getting started?
Ask for a referral
Your provider can write a referral to begin home health services.
Contact BAYADA
You, your provider, or another health care professional can reach out to BAYADA. A friendly intake coordinator will confirm your referral, collect your details, and guide you through any paperwork or insurance steps so care can start quickly.
Admission visit
A BAYADA clinician will visit your home to learn about your needs, answer your questions, and create a personalized plan of care. Based on that plan, we assemble a care team just for you.
Services begin
Your care team will schedule visits—usually 1–2 times per week—and begin providing services. We adjust your plan as your needs and goals change. If more time is needed to reach your goals, services can be extended with your insurer’s approval.
What are the payment options?
Medicare
If you qualify, services are usually covered 100%, with no out-of-pocket cost to you.
Medicaid
Coverage varies by state, but often covers the full cost. BAYADA will verify benefits and obtain any necessary authorizations before your care starts.
Private insurance
Some private insurance plans may cover home health services. We’ll help you understand your benefits so you can get the care you need.
