How hospice at home works
Once you are eligible for hospice, VCU Health Hospice at Home by BAYADA delivers expert medical care including symptom and pain management, as well as social, emotional, and spiritual support through the end-of-life process. We are committed to providing personalized care, so patients and families feel empowered and supported during life's final journey.

Timely start of care
We will be there when you need us to begin hospice services, usually within 24 hours of your call.

Paying for hospice care
Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance providers offer benefits that cover the cost of hospice care. In fact, most patients will pay nothing out-of-pocket for the cost of hospice care. What is hospice care, and how does it work?
Hospice care focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life for people living with a life - limiting illness. A team of caregivers—including doctors, nurses, social workers, spiritual counselors, and aides—supports both the patient and their family. The goal is to ease pain, bring comfort, and provide emotional and spiritual support every step of the way.
When is the right time to consider hospice?
Starting hospice is a very personal—sometimes, fearful—decision. But it doesn’t have to be. When someone receives a prognosis of six months or less, hospice care becomes an option, but many families put off making that decision because it feels like giving up.
