Home care near you

Since 1975, BAYADA has been bringing high-quality, compassionate home care services to thousands of adults and seniors throughout Philadelphia communities. Today, we are the largest provider of personal care services in the region, yet our mission remains the same: helping people live safely at home with comfort, independence, and dignity.

From help with getting dressed and cooking meals, to assisting those with dementia, BAYADA carefully matches your loved one’s condition, interests, and personality with an aide whose passion is to serve those needs and keep your loved one flourishing. Often, because of the special one-one-one relationships that are built, our aides become so much more than caregivers; they are like family.

Personal care—also known as assistive care or private duty home care—is a suite of in-home services and non-medical help with activities of daily living (ADLs). They are provided by specially-trained personal care aides—also called home health aides—on a regular, ongoing basis, or with hourly, overnight, and live-in options available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Clients enjoy the safety and independence our care brings, while families appreciate the peace of mind knowing their loved one is in good hands.

We hire family and friend caregivers

Sometimes family members or friends prefer to be their loved one’s professional caregiver. BAYADA hires family and friend caregivers and gives them the training to ensure that they can meet their loved one’s personal care needs.

ADLs—activities of daily living—typically include help with:

Personal Care

  • Dressing and grooming
  • Bathing and toileting
  • Walking, moving, and transferring (including safe use of wheelchairs, walkers, or lifts)
  • Basic exercise
  • Reminders about medications and appointments
  • Meal preparation, help with eating, and nutritious food selection

Household Support

  • Light housekeeping, such as vacuuming, dusting, and sweeping
  • Washing and folding laundry
  • Trash removal
  • Shopping for groceries, picking up prescriptions, and other errands
  • Companionship (such as conversation, reading, and outings)
  • Escorts to doctors’ appointments

For those clients with memory loss, our aides have specialized dementia training so they understand and know how to manage the challenging behaviors associated with the condition.

Every client’s care is overseen by a registered nurse who:

  • Develops and manages a plan of care
  • Directs and trains the caregiving team
  • Continually assesses the care services to ensure they are always meeting the client’s needs
  • Makes regular, supervisory home visits

For those clients with memory loss, our aides have specialized dementia training so they understand and know how to manage the challenging behaviors associated with the condition.

Respite care helps family caregivers find relief from the daily demands of caring for a loved one, often elderly parents. In most cases, the respite care provider (home health aide or personal care aide) will take over the responsibilities of care so the caregiver can leave the home for errands, classes, a walk, or even a short vacation. Anything that helps caregivers “recharge their batteries” is a good reason to engage respite care.

Welcoming a home health caregiver into your home is a big decision—and a responsibility that we take very seriously. Here are just some of the many reasons to choose BAYADA for your or your loved one’s care:

  • Free training for friend or family caregiver—If you wish, you may have a friend or family member apply to be your BAYADA caregiver and we will provide training.
  • Our employees love what they do!—Thanks to employees’ reviews, we have earned Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work award for 2018 and 2019.

You may be eligible for home health care if you have Medicaid benefits through Community HealthChoices in Pennsylvania.

If you’re 21 or older and have both Medicare and Medicaid, or receive long-term supports through Medicaid because you need help with everyday personal tasks, you’ll be covered by Community HealthChoices (CHC). Under the CHC program, you may choose from three different insurance plans (PA Health & Wellness, Keystone First, or UPMC Community HealthChoices). Regardless of which insurance plan you are enrolled in under CHC, you can select BAYADA as your home health care provider. You’ll receive the same high-quality BAYADA services with any of these plans.
