Philadelphia Adaptive Rowing (PAR)—formerly known as the Philadelphia Rowing Program for the Disabled (PRPD)—is the host club for the BAYADA Regatta and trains many of the competing athletes at its facilities on the Schuylkill River. Staffed by volunteer instructors and helpers with a variety of backgrounds, they provide recreational and competitive rowing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and have been a leader in the movement to make the sport of rowing available to everyone. PAR also worked with the US Olympic Committee to include the BAYADA Regatta on the organization’s National Sports Information List in the area of Handicapped Sports Activities. Many PAR rowers have successfully competed and placed in the International Federation of Rowing Associations (FISA) World Rowing Championships and the Paralympics.
