Bayada Nurses Tsunami Relief Effort Raises $30,000

Moorestown, NJ –Bayada Nurses coordinated a company-wide tsunami relief campaign in an effort to help rebuild the lives, families and communities affected by the December tsunami. Every employee donation was matched by the company dollar for dollar. In total, the campaign raised close to $30,000.

“Through this campaign, office and field staff joined together as a company to respond to and support the tsunami survivors and the agencies that worked together to help them cope with the overwhelming trauma they experienced”, says Mark Baiada, founder of Bayada Nurses. “Together, with employee gifts and the company’s matching gifts”, says Baiada, “we can make a significant donation.”

Agencies involved in the disaster report that continued support is vitally important in the long-term effort to rebuild. Throughout the campaign at Bayada Nurses, employees donated to three relief agencies: Project Hope, CARE or UNICEF. Nearly 300 employees made contributions.

Baiada is not surprised by the positive response. “We truly believe our employees are heroes”, says Baiada. “They find amazing satisfaction in caring for others – it is at the heart of what we do.”

Bayada Nurses also sponsor the Bayada Regatta, the world’s largest and oldest adaptive-rowing event, which showcases more than 50 participants with disabilities such as blindness, cerebral palsy, paraplegia, quadriplegia and multiple sclerosis. Held in Philadelphia on the banks of the Schuylkill River, this year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 10th. The Bayada Penguins, the Bayada-sponsored all disabled basketball team, can be seen Tuesday, March 15th at 7:30 at The Carousel House in Fairmount Park.

Founded in 1975 by J. Mark Baiada, Bayada Nurses is an independently-owned home health care company employing nurses, aides and therapists in over 100 offices in 14 states.
